Sustainability Using The Natural Step Framework This one-day program, presented in two parts, is designed to introduce business, government, and community leaders to sustainability and The Natural Step framework. In the morning, a presentation will define sustainability and present the basic principles of The Natural Step (TNS) framework including the science behind the framework model and case studies. Workshop- June 5, 2008 Sustainability Using the Natural Step Framework Thursday, June 5, 2008 Hilton Portland and Executive Tower 921 SW 6th Ave Portland, OR 97204 Program: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm OVERVIEW OF THE DAY: This one-day program, presented in two parts, is designed to introduce business, government, and community leaders to sustainability and The Natural Step framework. In the morning, a presentation will define sustainability and present the basic principles of The Natural Step (TNS) framework including the science behind the framework model and case studies. Attendees will participate in small group exercises around the four principles and learn how to apply the framework in the creation of a business product and service. In the afternoon, two local business leaders will share their organizations' experience in using The Natural Step framework to implement sustainable concepts. Later, participants will learn how to use the four system conditions as a guide in moving their organization toward sustainability. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
Duke Castle, one of the original organizers of the Oregon Natural Step Network, has delivered hundreds of Natural Step presentations including training Oregon state leaders on sustainability and The Natural Step as part of Governor Kitzhaber's sustainability executive order. He has traveled to Sweden to study how Swedish companies have successfully applied The Natural Step principles. Duke is a former marketing executive with Hewlett Packard and has a BSEE from Cornell University and an MBA from Stanford. April 11: What Causes Great People to Feel Crazy- We all occasionally feel the world is making us crazy. During this session we will offer a slow motion review of how this happens to the best of us and what real leaders do to escape the trap. For sessions below specific subsequent dates will be provided approximately 8 weeks prior to each session.

September: Wisdom Based Decision Making – once great leaders are free from their self limiting thinking, they have the opportunity to discover the deep wisdom in their heart as they make each decision. We will offer you a practice that allows you to consistently live up to your highest values .
December: Declaring Your Intention – great words are at the source of great accomplishments. When you know the deepest wisdom in your heart is guiding your actions, you are no longer afraid to speak powerfully for a bold future.
